The U.S. Trustee’s office oversees the bankruptcy process and publishes median income and means test information per state which is critical to determining whether you are eligible to file a chapter 7. The median income is set for each household size and generally speaking if you make less than the median income for your household you can file a chapter 7. If you make more you can still qualify if you pass the means test.
