Personal Injury Lawyer: Familiar Car Accident Claims Angel

A man who brought joy to kids in Maryland hospitals by dressing up as batman and driving in a custom bat mobile was killed when his stalled vehicle was struck by another vehicle causing it to strike him.

The Route 29 Batman, as he was known, according to news reports took his craft seriously and had done for several years. He was an angel on a mission to entertain children who were often dealing with serious illnesses.

On this fateful day, he had car trouble on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, Md. He got out of his vehicle and was checking his engine when another vehicle hit the bat mobile. He died on the scene.

Unfortunately, accidents involving drivers and passengers attempting to repair stalled vehicles happen all too frequently. The drivers and passengers face additional risk because they are exposed, without the protection of being inside the vehicle.

As  you may recall from your drivers education class, it is best to pull over to the side of the road if you can do safely. But if you cannot do that, it is best to personally stay off the road for precisely this type of accident. With today’s numerous distractions such as texting, the other drivers on the road may not see your vehicle until it is too late or at all.
