What is transvaginal mesh?

Transvaginal mesh used to repair tissue damage by either providing support or replacing missing tissue.

What is pelvic organ prolapse (POP)?

Harvard Medical School describes Pelvic Organ Prolapse occurs as a condition where there is pelvic relaxation is a weakness or laxity in the supporting structures of the pelvic region which may cause bladder to bulge into the vagina.

What is stress urinary incontinence (SUI)?

Stress Urinary Incontinence: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is defined by Medline Plus as when your bladder leaks urine during physical activity or exertion as slight as a cough or exercise.

Causes of Pelvic problems:

Pelvic Mesh Complications:

The Food and Drug Administration states that the most common complications are:

  • Mesh erosion through the vagina
  • Pain
  • Infection
  • Bleeding
  • Mesh erosion can cause pain during sex
  • Recurrence of prolapse or incontinence
  • Urinary problems
